Problems?
This site relies heavily on
Javascript which must be enabled in your browser's options.
If you already have Javascript
enabled then please make sure you are using a supported browser. The site
has been tested using Opera version 7.50+, Netscape Navigator 7.1+ (also
Mozilla 1.6+, Firefox 0.8+, Safari[Windows] 3.0+ and Chrome 0.2+) and
Internet Explorer 6+ but has since been much improved using Firefox.
Current known Issues:
Internet
Explorer:
None
Firefox/Chrome/Safari(Windows)/Mozilla/Netscape Navigator:
None
Opera:
None.
With any exceptions shown above it
works (with differences) under all of them and while I know that ideally sites
should be readable by all browsers, I think it is perfectly reasonable to expect
people to have the latest version of their chosen browser (so, now you know).
It was written using Internet Explorer 6.0.
If you are using a supported
browser with Javascript enabled then the site must be broken. Please use the
email link at the bottom of the page describing the problem and giving details
of the browser name and version. I'll help if I can. Many Thanks.
As you like it...
You can open this site at any page
you choose by adding ?page=n (where n is the page number) to the
end of the URL in your browser's address bar. The current page number and title
are shown in the header. Pages are numbered starting at 1 (e.g. 1 is the
page) from the
top of the Pages section of the menu.
The main menu is a comprehensive tool
for navigating the site. You can set it to a fixed position on the page or allow
it to float at the top or bottom of the screen. Each block can be expanded or
collapsed by clicking on the block header or you can do them all at once. The
first block allows you to click through the pages or go straight to the either
end. The second shows you the title of each page (roll over it to see when it
was last updated in the browser's status bar) and allows you to go straight to
any page. The last block has some useful links to external sites that may not
be related to anything else on the site.
If you prefer, you may turn the main
menu off using either the menu header text or the options menu (on the
right side of the site header). With the menu turned off you can still navigate
the pages by changing the URL (as above) or more quickly and efficiently by
using the > (Next page) and < (Previous page) either side of the page title in
the header.
The current page title is always
displayed in the page header along with the page number and the date it was
last updated.
If you happen to be using Internet
Explorer then the options menu allows you to create a bookmark for the
displayed page by clicking the link; Remember this page
as a favourite . This method of going to a specific page takes priority
over using cookies (see below) to remember the last page you visited. [Note:
The options menu also allows you to set a bookmark to the entire site
with the Remember
this site as a favourite link].
Cookies
By default this site does not use
cookies but you can turn them on by clicking Remember
settings (and off again with Forget
settings ) in the options menu. You won't see these options
if cookies are disabled in your browser.
The data held in the cookies are
only used to maintain the state of the choices you make. The cookies
store the page you last visited and the way you like the main menu (visible
or hidden, at the head or foot, floating or fixed (and where fixed), with
expanded or collapsed blocks).
If your browser has cookies enabled
and you have turned them on using the link in the options menu then you
will be able to return to the site with your choices intact (as long as you
haven't deleted the cookie file in the mean time and you have returned within
a year of your last visit).
If the cookies aren't there for any
reason then I make some choices for you; the site will load with a visible,
fully expanded menu floating at the head of the page. This applies even if you have used the
Back or Forward browser features to return.
